Purchased a 42" full HD LCD tv from John Lewis online. Its never specified that the cardholder & person making the purchase must be the same so when I bought it with partner's card, they reserved amnt & then later refused transaction resulting in bank stopping the card.
We then repeated transaction but in partenrs name. Arrived with one button on remote broken. Emailed JL & were told to fill out online form requiring all sorts of serial numbers. We did only to be told to contact manufacturer!!

DAB clock radio broke after a few months. Took back to store and they would not replace only send away to manufacturer. After a month phoned to be told they had only it sent away that week. They told me to phone again as would be chased by them from the supplier. My contract was with them (John Lewis) and eventyually they gave in and gave me a new radio. So beware of their warranty, not as good as it would appear!

Yesterday (Sunday) morning I went onto the website and ordered 4 Ipod Nanos for my children for Christmas, I paid using part voucher and part card, it was easy, I could not believe it this morning when I got an email to say they had been despatched AND then got a phone call mid morning from my husband to say they had arrived. This is a truly amazing service which I doubt could be bettered anywhere.

Montana bar chairs:NOT suitable for families; broke within months of purchase (pushed over by my toddler). Rude / abrupt customer service- refused refund! So much for 'never knowingly undersold'!

I puchased a Toshiba laptop from the Oxford Street store. There is no hard-sell like there is from other shops nearby. Just good honest advice.
I know for a fact staff are not paid commission on what they sell (only an annual bonus depending on how well the John Lewis Parternship does). Hence staff have no insentive to sell you something just becuase it is a few more pounds in their pay packet.
Laptops have a 2 year parts and labor warranty. Excellent.

Bought washer drier, price wasn't the cheapest but it included 2 years warranty (£100+ at other places). Got a call organising delivery time less than 30 minutes after my order. Arrived on time delivered by 2 polite men. Couldn't ask for better.

Short and sweet Excellent service all around.
Ordered my Sony KDL-40V2000 LCD TV late in the evening got a phone call next day stating the delivery date and a follow up phone call the day before delivery to confirm and it was delivered as informed.
A flawless operation
The tv price's may not appear cheapest around but for a few £ extra you will get 5 years piece of mind with their free 5 year warrenties. this item was over £400 cheaper then some (quote) low price (unquote) rivals.

We ordered a Zanussi washing machine and were delighted with the price and that someone rang to sort a delivery the next day. This was arranged for a following Wednesday. Imagine our dismay when someone rang to cofirm a delivery time for Tuesday. We both work on Tuesday, taking an afternoon off would add £70 pound to the price. It was explained that our local store could only deliver to our area on that day. Our only recourse was to cancel the order. We found this unacceptable.

We had ordered a wooden blind for the kitchen at a cost of almost £500when it came it was the wrong shade and they had fitted it, a this was not noticed until a couple of days later. When contacted they dealt straight away with no problems whatsoever. It took about 3 weeks to replace but it was the best service we could have expected, An excellent company

Recently bought a Pioneer Plasma TV from JL.
Ordering - done on my behalf by JL Bristol through JL High Wycombe complete with the Bristol area price match.
Staff - Excellent, really understand their product Range and the technologies involved.
Delivery - Rang me to confirm on the day as requested and arrived almost to the minute.
Really top store - wish I'd bought my daughters pushchair from them... But that's another story

After much chasing and 3 months i received the cotbed damaged, a replacement then took 3 further weeks to arrive. still witing for the original cotbed to be picked up, absoloutely appalling service.

Excellent company, cannot fault them. We purchased a dishwasher online and were not satisfied with it. No questions asked, collected and full refund given even though we had used it a few times. We highly recommend John Lewis.

Having been badly let down by Empiredirect, I ordered from John Lewis at 6:00pm and received the goods by 8:00am next day, with free delivery and an extended warranty thrown in for good measure. I cannot praise the service highly enough and will make sure I go to John Lewis first next time!

Have used John Lewis and Waitrose stores over many years the advice is always spot on and impartial, prices usually the cheapest. Aftersales support is excellent any faulty goods are exchanged on the spot. Delivery of items have always been on time.

Wanted two items from the lighting dept - that were out of stock in the local shop and in their warehouse. They made enquiries to obtain and found the nearest shop with them in stock but found that their online puchasing arm held separate stocks from the shops. They were very helpful indeed and directed me to johnlewis.com and provided me with the stock number. Ordering was easy and goods were delivered at no extra cost two days later. Excellent.

Having perused the John Lewis website to choose my son's new pram, i phoned my local John Lewis' to see if they sold the model in store and if they had a display i could try out. They were charming and helpful over the phone, they did indeed have a Zooper display model, and checked avaliability of the pushchair for me- all over the phone before i'd even got there!
Upon my arrival they demonstrated how the pushchair worked, and i was able to collect it that very day! A* service!

This has got to be the worst company going. Had to wait two months for delivery of a product that I could buy in most high street stores today.
There was no sign of remorse and quite frankly my hard earned bucks should go to a better company.

Been shopping with John Lewis five years. Staff are friendly and know their stuff, most electrical products come with extended warranties with no extra cost, and whenever there has been a problem they have replaced the item immediately - even paid my fuel costs for bringing it back to shop.

Bought a kuster high chair that started to warp and split, they wouldn't offer a refund and the cushion we bought to use with it they wouldn't refund either, they eventually offered an exchange on the chair but not the cushion.

As ever, the service was the best when in my local store (Cheadle), got the best impartial advice I've ever received and never once felt pressured into buying anything straight away.
These guys know what they are talking and I guess thats down to some fantastic training on the products. I went in to buy a Tunturi rower priced at over 500 pounds. Throughout I felt as was getting the right product for my needs.
Came home to have a think about it before commiting and was advised to have a look online at their website as I could order online too.
Great advice again, not made to feel as though the company was competing internally, ie johnlewis.com against the branches.
A refreshing approach by a fantastic retailer. I love John Lewis.

Bought a Little tikes imagine sounds playhouse online at John Lewis. Heard nothing in 4 weeks other than I had paid for the product within 1 week of ordering. Phoned John Lewis customer service on several occasions to hear what had happened to my order. 7 weeks on I finally got a delivery with the WRONG product (not even a playhouse). This online shopping with John Lewis has been noting but a dissapoinment and the customer service has not been helpful at all. I have now cancelled my order and is waiting for a refund!

Ordered lined wicker baskets. Great price, arrived before time, but one was slightly damaged. Customer service guy was brilliant - refunded my card immediately and apologised. Am planning to do most of my Christmas shopping online at John Lewis. Great store.
